Tom Tueller
From the serene atmosphere of local parks to the bright lights of national competitions, this remarkable ONIX athlete's journey in the world of pickleball commenced in 2009, catalyzed by an enthusiastic neighbor who first introduced him to the sport. What began as a leisurely pastime quickly blossomed into a profound passion that has endured for over a decade and a half. “I was immediately drawn to how the game demanded a unique blend of speed, hand-eye coordination, and finesse,” he reflects. This exceptional combination of skills not only captured his interest but continues to motivate him even after 16 years of dedicated play.
Residing in the picturesque town of St. George, Utah, this seasoned competitor has participated in an impressive array of tournaments throughout his illustrious career. Currently, he is an active participant in both the National Pickleball League and the Senior Pro circuits, demonstrating no signs of wanting to slow down. “My aspiration is to continue playing as long as I maintain my health, derive enjoyment from the game, and remain competitive against my peers,” he shares with palpable enthusiasm.
While pickleball may not be his primary profession, as he works diligently as a Sales Engineer in the civil infrastructure sector, his unwavering commitment to the sport is undeniably evident. He has secured numerous medals at the National Championships, with a recent highlight being his triumphant gold medal win at a Senior Pro Tour event in vibrant Las Vegas. A particularly memorable moment in his journey was an epic performance at the prestigious Tournament of Champions, where he staged a remarkable comeback after an early defeat in singles, achieving an impressive 12 consecutive victories and ultimately claiming the runner-up position in a highly competitive open division.
As a proud user of the ONIX Evoke Premier Raw Carbon paddle, he appreciates its lightweight design, carbon face that enhances spin, and the ability to unleash greater power with the 12mm thickness option. “It’s the ideal combination of speed and performance that I’ve been searching for,” he adds with a satisfied smile.
Though he does not belong to a formal pickleball club, you can often find him on private courts and in local parks, diligently working to improve his own skills while encouraging others to elevate their game as well. Beyond the court, he admires athletes who embody a harmonious balance of humility and confidence—those who enter the arena with an admirable blend of class and charisma.
